Hi all,

For SECDEP, we would want to give the client's savings interest when she
resigns. I checked on Mifos and did not see a link that says "Post
interest" when reviewing a savings account. And I check the functional
specifications and this is what it says:

http://www.mifos.org/knowledge/functional-specifications/account-creatio
n/savings-accounts/?searchterm=savings

"Savings account is Closed. Once closed, the state of the account cannot
be modified. Transactions are not allowed after an account is closed.
When an account is closed, the interest till the current date should be
calculated and posted to the account.

Because the balance of the account must be nil before it can be closed,
a withdrawal transaction must be made. The user must specify the Date of
transaction (current date) and the Amount (total account balance
including the interest earned till the current date). This amount must
be rounded as per the rounding rules. The user must also specify the
mode of payment, receipt ID and receipt date, and well as the client
name. For group/center savings accounts, the client who made the
withdrawal should also be specified."

The above two paragraph contradict each other. (I wonder if I wrote
this. Kay?) Before I close the account, I want to post the interest, but
I cannot close the interest until I withdraw all the money and if I
withdraw all my money, how can I get my interest?" Case in point, I
guess. ;)

We think that the work-around is to manually calculate the interest due
and record that in the accounting system, not in Mifos (since it will be
recorded as cash received).

But before we resort to that, is there an easier Mifos way?
