Welcome to MIFOS!
No, the demo server is just that: for demonstration purposes. You may be best
served by your own server installation that is configured for your needs and
users, but i can't tell without knowing some more about your needs.
All the instructions you need are available, if you want to try the
do-it-yourself approach. And, if not, there are other people who can help. Some
may volunteer, and some may charge for it.
For e.g., i can volunteer to help you setup the basic server. Being a web-based
application, its not necessary that you need to host your own, but of course,
you should feel comfortable enough that you can use Mifos securely if you
"host" it elsewhere, on a server on the Internet, for example.
A good way to begin may be to list your needs and see how close Mifos is to
meeting them or exceeding them. For example, if you have operations in
different countries, you may have needs that other MFIs may not have.
Hope that your exploration of Mifos ends with a successful installation. You
should definitely get a lot of help from this list

We have running our data manually for too long. We are new to Mifos and
wondering about a few things.
We have centers in 4 countries and would like a system that is web-based. My
understanding was I could use the stable demo server and then configure my own
user and password once I get in. Do I have that wrong? Do I have to go through
the entire install instructions on my server of MySQL, Tomcat Etc..? or can I
just use the demo server. I know it’s a stupid question, but I’m confused.
