One thing to note is that Mifos is moving to the Pentaho platform.  We have
heard that Pentaho has support for both Jasper and BIRT reports, but we have
yet to do any in-depth testing around this.  Either way, you may consider
building your reports in Pentaho as opposed to Jasper for uniformity across
reports (We will be releasing a new suite of reports and a data warehouse
with the coming months).

I'll also note that having built reports in all three platforms (BIRT,
Jasper and Pentaho), its pretty easy to switch to Pentaho, especially if
you've worked on Jasper before.
