Hi All,
We currently support a feature for our India cloud customers that allows
them to generate an XML file to import accounting information into Tally
(a leading accounting package in India). Currently the process for
creating this XML file and uploading it into Tally is cumbersome. Steps
are:
* Log into Pentaho reporting server
* Click "generate report"
* Name the file a specific file name to minimize duplicate
uploads into Tally
* Save file to specific location
* (Optionally) Save a PDF version of the XML output
* Log into Tally
* Upload file
We can fully automate this process by building a custom plug-in for
Tally that imports accounting information, but this will require quite a
bit of work and is scheduled for later on our roadmap. In the meantime,
I want to propose some quick wins to make this process more streamline.
My current ideas is:
* Configure Tally so that:
1. The XML file is automatically named and saved at a specific
location every night
2. The PDF version of the file is automatically saved at a
specific location every night
* MFI would only need to log into tally every morning and upload
the file
What are users thoughts to these enhancements?
Any other suggestions for ways to improve the process, short of building
a plug in for Tally?
