From a usability perspective, we’ll want to be very careful about having the 
dates change throughout the application.  It will be confusing if in some 
places they are one way and in other places, they are another way—esp if it’s 
switching between the European DD-MM-YYYY and the US MM-DD-YYYY.

 

Any way to turn this off until the entire app is switched over?  Or to somehow 
keep dates consistent?

Yes, that would be great.  YYYY-MM-DD is the best format for Chinese.
