Hi Miguel -
This is very interesting (I'm a bit behind and just reading through the Mifos
lists from the last couple of weeks now). Can you provide more detail on the
thinking behind the action plan? I looked at the website and wasn't clear on
the intended funding/operations of this new organization. Do you have a sense
of how this would be funded, what the organization would do (specifically), and
who would be running it?
It sounds like an interesting idea/approach if it can be made to work but I
think for those of us in the community looking at investing in Mifos (through
hiring developers or whatever) to bank on this new org, we'll need to know a
lot more about how it might work.
I'd propose that in parallel with looking at new orgs etc we should be thinking
about exactly what has to happen - regardless of organizations, etc. - in order
for the community to continue moving forward. Ed and Van have a good start on
some of the feature requests, and it sounds like GF is planning to fund the
ongoing infrastructure (Ed is that correct? I saw that in a different thread
somewhere), but I suspect there are a bunch of operational processes (who gets
to commit, how is QA done on releases, etc.) that will need to be undertaken
regardless of whether a new Mifos org exists or not.
Cheers,
-george
