Keith, in the SACCO (Savings and Credit Cooperative) model, shares are akin
to shares of ownership a member of a credit union would have. In the past
some MFIs have used savings to address there needs to track shares at a
limited level. A couple pages on the wiki tracking some of the requirement
gathering we did on support for a shares module:

I'm certain our African users could add more details on Shares in the
context of the SACCO, ROSCA, ASCA models,

Keith,
Thomas is Systems Analyst with VasTech, an ICT service provider in Uganda. I
have updated their Specialist profile in the Mifos Community Directory -
http://mifos.org/node/1960. They've currently deployed Mifos at Friends
Capital Finance and have additional implementations underway.
