Kelechi,

Your questions crosses two different areas:

*1. Mobile Money/Mobile Banking Platforms & Mifos Integration*: As more and
more MFIs accept and receive payments via mobile money, the need to
integrate this transaction data is growing. Since Kenya's M-PESA is the
most heavily used and advanced of the mobile money platforms, we developed
integration for that via a plug-in for Mifos user - KEEF. Full details
regarding the M-PESA plug-in are located at:
http://mifos.org/product/download-mifos/plugins

We also recently published a case study on our experiences with mobile money
at KEEF:
http://mifos.org/community/news/documenting-technology-impact-mifos-roi-model-and-case-studies

We are looking to utilize the plug-in and the API we exposed for this
plug-in to integrate with other mobile money platforms over time.

Could you provide more information on mobile money options you're looking at
in Nigeria?

*2. Mobile Interface for Mifos *- there are a number of threads on this
topic exploring needs for a front-end mobile data entry solution for Mifos.
Current paths explored have included data entry via SMS, data entry via Java
app and data entry via Smartphone App. A number of Java-based prototypes of
mobile interfaces for feature phones have been developed by various
Specialists and data entry via SMS has been piloted in India. Users across
Africa have continued to express a strong need for some type of mobile
interface (feature-or-smart-phone-based).

Could you send to this thread more detailed use cases and business
requirements for your ideal mobile interface for Mifos?

Best,

Ed Cable
