I'd be happy to have a discussion about reporting. But here's some general
info anyway. I'm just putting this to the mifos list too in case there are
other opinions.
Mifos Embedded Reports

There are 5 reports that come 'out of the box' with Mifos 2.1.x - you can
get to them from the Reports tab. The ones that seem to kind of match what
Stephen says are the 'Branch Progess' and maybe "Detailed Aging Of Portfolio
At Risk Report"
The other 3 are
Collection Sheet Report (not great because mostly tailored to Grameen Kouta
needs of years ago)
Branch Cash Confirmation Report
General Ledger Report
However, if you login to the demo server
http://demo.mifos.org/mifos/login.ftl (using mifos as username and testmifos
as password) you will see a couple of other reports. These are reports that
people have done and then "added" to mifos i.e. you can create your own Birt
reports and there is a process for configuring them so that they are
integrated with Mifos. So, if you wanted to get exactly the report you need
(even if only rough and ready) I'd ask on the Mifos user and dev list if
anyone could knock up a birt report for inclusion in mifos with that data.
There are a number of contributors that have done this for other MFI's and
they may just do it for free. I haven't used Birt so tend to stay away from
it.
Pentaho Reports

I'm pretty sure the info Stephen is looking for is in the 35 or so reports
that come with the mifos BI 1.3 suite (the Data Warehouse part wouldn't be
necessary for this info). You can see demos of the Pentaho BI reports at
http://demo.mifos.org/pentaho/Login (using mifos as username and testmifos
as password) and looking under Standard Reports (even though I think this
demo prob only shows BI 1.2 and doesn't have the specific loan and arrears
reports... its good enough to get an idea of them)
The problem (and benefit) with using the Pentaho based BI reports is that
its not linked to or integrated with the Mifos application. Its also an
extra thing to install (and the datawarehouse, if wanted, requires a bit of
extra work too). However, Pentaho is a "BI platform" and does have some
adhoc report capability that can be easily set up to enable quick (if
clunky) reporting and exporting. Also, non-adhoc reports can be added
fairly easily in a couple of ways. So, if we wanted to get the info Stephen
talks about in Pentaho I'd probably do a quick query that covers it and add
it as a data source on Pentaho so that the adhoc reporting engine picks it
up and Stephen could do the rest (parameters, grouping) himself. I think a
lot of specific needs for MFI's could be easily done like this.
