Hello all,
I've invited many of your personally to this meeting but want to send a
public invitation to the entire mailing list with an overview of what we're
expecting to cover. Please respond to this thread with your feedback on
what you would like to get from these meetings and how we can make them
better.
The first meeting will be held on *Wednesday November 9 at 830am PST/430pm
GMT*. Details on the meeting and joining the call can be found at:
http://mifosforge.jira.com/wiki/display/RES/User+Meetups
The goals of the meeting are to address several challenges in the community:
1) Helping users overcome challenges implementing and using Mifos by
sharing their experiences with fellow users.
2) Helping community developers understand user needs and product
requirements by establishing a more direct connection with users.
3) Help users understand the Mifos product and community better by
showcasing features, conducting tutorials and demos
We'll do this by providing a regular time in which users can interact with
fellow implementers and have a more active conversation than the mailing
list can provide. Users can discuss challenges they've faced implementing
Mifos - this could range from a configuration question to a project
management question on up to dealing with change management.
Essentially it's an open time to get help with anything regarding
implementing and using Mifos. Think of it as your chance to learn Mifos and
our chance to learn about you. On each call we'll have an experienced Mifos
implementer available to answer questions.
For our initial meeting, we're proposing the following
agenda<http://mifosforge.jira.com/wiki/display/RES/11.09.2011+User+Meetup>.
We need some help finalizing it.
Session Description Presenter Time Introduction Discussion on what's the
goal of these meetings and getting feedback on what you, the users want to
achieve.
We will also have an introduction of everyone on the call so the community
can more personally connected. Ed
Cable<http://mifosforge.jira.com/wiki/display/~testusercable> 10
minutes Demo/Tutorial Each meeting, we'll do a demo of a feature or a
tutorial of how to do a certain task within Mifos or how to use a tool or
resource in the online community infrastructure.
For our first meeting, we would like to show off some of the features in
the most recent releases - Question Groups, some reports in Mifos BI.

10 minutes User Show and Tell On a regular basis we want to have the
opportunity for MFIs throughout the community to present their story or
case study on how they're using Mifos. The format/extent of the
presentation can very but we'd like for others to learn from the deployment
experiences of others as well as day to day usage of Mifos For the first
meeting we will just introduce the concept. In advance of each meeting
we'll select an MFI to present. Ed/MFIs 5 minutes Open Office Hours This is
the heart of the meeting - the time for users to ask any questions and
connect with expert implementers and fellow users to discuss deploying
Mifos, using Mifos, adopting technology, project management - any question
you have. Open 10 - 20
minutes Product Feedback Each meeting, we want users to voice their
pains/challenges with Mifos and how we can make the product better. Any
bugs you've found, feature requests you've had, ideas to make the product
better should be shared at this time.
This is the chance for our developers to directly hear from the mouth of
the users how they use the product and what they need to use it more
effectively. Open 10 - 20 minutes New Agenda Topic What do you want to
discuss? - Add it here!
Initially we're going to host these every other week. We realize the time
may be inconvenient for some timezones and will make all efforts to
actively document these meetings with thorough notes posted and video/audio
recordings when appropriate.
We want these meetings to be a big success so that the community can come
closer together, users can get the help they need and our developer
community can get in better touch with the users of the Mifos software.
The more who attend and the more who participate, the more valuable these
meetings will become.
Ed
