Thomas,
you can make whatever changes you like to the mifos reports using the
Pentaho Report Designer and use them for your own purposes.
If you want to improve a report so its available to everyone you should
fork the mifos bi repository on github, update your pentaho report and
raise a pull request so someone can integrate your change into the main
repository
If that last sentence makes no sense to you reply again to this and I, or
someone who actually knows how to, can point you to the instructions on how
to do this fork and pull request thing.
Finally, you should raise a Jira issue for tracking purposes (or ask
someone to if you haven't access).
