Hi Ann I assume that you are running Mifos on a Windows computer. Make sure that your MySQL service is running, and that you have followed the steps for creating the Mifos database schema.
When you start up Jetty, there might be some useful information shown in the console. If messages are quickly scrolling out of sight, you can make the scroll buffer bigger by choosing the properties of Jetty command Window, choosing the Layout tab, and increasing the buffer height to 3000 lines instead of 300. You might also like to make the width of the buffer and window 120 instead of 80. Look for errors in the console when jetty starts up. If you find something that looks like an error, please post it back to this group and we may be able to help more.
