Hi everyone,
I've tested the Data Import Tool (is a tool that import your data of
clients, loans, savings, etc with templates excels to Mifos X) during 3
days and this is my review.
*Good things*
- The templates excels are useful and reduced your effort when you enter
data. You can choose directly the names of your staff and offices when you
enter clients,groups, loans and savings.
- The tool provides you UI simple and easy to understand. It says you what
you have to do for import your data. Step bye step.
*Bad things.*
- You can't enter staff data and office data (and also, you can't map
groups into centers). This data should be enter with UI (user interface) of
Mifos X. Also, the templates should be more friendly (with help notes and
messages errors more explicit and comprehensible with the user).
- The interface don't give you alternatives or suggestions about how you
can resolve your errors when you enter wrong data. This is important for
newbies users.
- When you want to download loan template, the tool shows error message
very technical and incomprehensible for anyone without knowledge informatic.
- There is a problem with format date when your language is not english.
For example, if you want enter any date with this format '*dd/MM/YYY', *it's
something impossible. This should be more dynamic, the user must be able to
choose the format that he want.
*Improves*
- It would be better if the user could test the connection between Data
Import Tool and the API of Mifos X. Everything must be starts with this
part (you can add a previous page for this function) because if your
connection is wrong, you cannot download templates excels.
*Conclusion*
It's a great tool, but in my opinion, the current version is a Beta version
because there are bad things that block the work. It can improve and to be
more useful and friendly whit the final user.
*Questions for the developers*
Currently, exists some developer team for this tool that are working right
now or the project is stopped ? You have any plans for this project in the
short/middle term ?
I supposed that this project is open source, so If I want fix some issues,
¿ Could I do that ? Because I've fixed the issue when you have download the
loan template. And I would like to improve this project in the future.
