Hello everyone,
The 2015 Google Summer of Code application process is now open for
mentoring organizations. We had a remarkable class of seven rock-star
interns last summer
<http://mifos.org/blog/2014-google-summer-code-bigger-better-ever/>.
GSOC is one of our largest sources of external contribution each year so
the more mentors we have, the more students and projects and we can take on
and the more functionality we can deliver to our users!
We're hoping to get accepted for our third year as the independent Mifos
Initiative and hopefully bring on even more interns than the 7 last year.
*Call for Mentors*
We would like to open the door to any of our technical contributors in the
community who might be interested in serving as GSoC mentor this year. It's
a very worthwhile and rewarding experience but it does require at least 5
hours/week commitment throughout the summer. Email the list if interested
in mentoring.
*Call for Project Ideas*
We also invite any users, implementers, or developers to suggest potential
projects or ideas that students could work on - this list is the most
important part of our application. So if you've got a feature you've been
hoping to see, a technical enhancement the platform could use or simply an
idea you'd like to explore, add it to this hackpad where we're
brainstorming out ideas (or share it on the list):

We'll be having a call this upcoming week to discuss and refine these
ideas.
All chosen ideas will end up on our official 2015 Google Summer of Code
ideas page (I've carried over projects from last year):

Our application is due by February 20 so we'll need our ideas list complete
and our mentors chosen by then.
Thanks,
Ed
