Hello everyone. A happy 2019 to everyone. So I’m a bit confused about joe linking FD Accounts with existing Savings Account work. My understanding is that if there is sufficient enough balance in the Savings Account, it would be transferred to the FD account as opening balance when the FD has been activated. While I have seen it work on one account, I have been unable to replicate it after several tries. I will explain my workflow.
So a new client is created alongside a Savings Account. And a deposit X is made into the account. A new FD account with opening Balance X is created and linked to the savings account. Both accounts are created and activated on the same day. But savings account is created approved and funded first before creating FD Account. Repeatedly when the FD account is created the Savings Account keeps its balance while the FD account gets the new balance X. So both Savings and FD accounts separately have a balance of X. My expectation is that the Savings account would have its balance reduced by X while FD is increased by X. This does not happen. Could this be because the transfer of X leaves the Savings Account with a zero balance?
