Not recommended as there will be lots of glitches. Mikrotik 44ge is good card with 4 port on board. But servers make lots of noise and power hungry too. Depending on your requirements CCRs are good choices but if still want to go with x686 . We can offer you some higher end network appliance in 1U form factor
