I am a big fan of the bugfix versions and generally recommend them to our
clients, but there are a few valid reasons to use other versions.

1. The features you need aren’t stable or don’t perform as well in bugfix

2. The features you need aren’t available in bugfix

3. MikroTik has made hardware revisions recently to certain routers like
the CCR series and those ship with firmware that won’t allow downgrade below a
certain version (see the image below for a failed bugfix downgrade). For
example, this leaves you in a situation where an earlier CCR1036-8G-2S+ will
run on 6.32.4 bugfix but a newer CCR of the same model will not.

Why is everyone upgrading to an unstable version is my question? The "current"
version is not near as stable as bug fix release.

If you want stability, use the bug fix release and learn to sleep at night.

Honestly my guess is that it was VLAN related. I posted the details and
recovery process on the mikrotik fb page.

First few netboots didn't take so it took about 2 hours to recover from.

Be patient during the recovery process, may take 10-15 attempts.

Important note!!!

To avoid STP/RSTP compatibility issues with older RouterOS versions

upgrade RouterOS on all routers in Layer2 networks with VLAN and

STP/RSTP configurations.
