I recently acquired a network that has about 70% of the customers on
PPPoE.
The tower setup is an RB450 running the PPPoE sessions, plugged into a
Proxim AP going to Tranzeo CPEs and the clients have either routers with
PPPoE configured or PPPoE clients on their computers.
I will be replacing this setup with a StarOS or MT AP with a
192.168.x.x/24 subnet on the wireless side.
I need to transition them off of PPPoE to a standard /24 on each AP as
quickly as possible.
My plan is to put the StarOS AP in place with the 192.168.x.1/24 subnet
bound to the wireless side, and bridged through to the ethernet so that
we can run PPPoE and regular traffic across the wireless until the PPPoE
customers are all moved, at which point I can remove the bridging on the
AP and just have the customers use the 192.168.x.1 gateway.
Does anyone have any recommendations on this? Can I run PPPoE and the
standard non-pppoe subnet on the same interface or will there be issues?
