It would be great if someone had a guide to best practices.
You need a book. I believe this is one of the respected books on the topic: http://www.runningipv6.net/ You will get your IPv6 /32 allocation from your RIR. Then you will assign a /40 or so to each tower. Each leaf network will recieve at least a /64 if you want to use IPv6 the way it was designed. You are expected to give each customer up to a /48 so that they can have multiple /64 networks from the one allocation. How you number things in your infrastructure subnets is up to you. You can make use of the autoconfig designed into the protocol or you can try to use the .n method you have used in IPv4. The days of remembering IP addresses are pretty much done. I would give each host a name in DNS and remember that rather than try to remember a 128bit IP number. I suggest reading a book or two before trying to design your networks addressing scheme. -- Scott Lambert KC5MLE Unix SysAdmin [email protected] _______________________________________________ Mikrotik mailing list [email protected] http://www.butchevans.com/mailman/listinfo/mikrotik Visit http://blog.butchevans.com/ for tutorials related to Mikrotik RouterOS
