Hi Terry,

Something wrong with that calculation. No doubt.

Just a rough SWAG, I would come up with somewhere between 25 and 30 watts for that list of parts. It's possible that he slipped a decimal point, and it "might" be 3.7 amps, but that would be ~~44 watts, which seem way too high.

I don't know who contributed that bit. But most of the rest was written by Chuck McCown, who knows what he's talking about.

Thanks Bill.

Reading through that I thought I had it until I got to the bottom in the
Typical Site Power Loads where it says 4.452W continuous. I don't get that
considering just the routerboards are 3 watts apiece, XRs are listed at 9W
each. So for example just with the 3 XRs I would think 27W continuous.

I am looking into solar since part of our area was taken over by another

of whats involved and the cost to say run a tower with three APs, two back
hauls and a couple of 8 port switches? All are 433AH and either XR2 or 5s. Or
maybe point me in a direction before I call this company.

Subject: Re: [Mikrotik] Good source for solar panels?

Last year we got a pair of these:
http://www.sunwize.com/info_center/pdf/Trina-TSM-PA05-220-230-240W.pdf
for a little over $400.

That was less than $2 per watt. They're probably cheaper this year.

We get ours from a Sunwize dealer in Willits California. You can get
decent
panels now for less than $2/watt.

Anyone have a source for good, low-cost solar panels? I usually order
