If you're using a grid for a primary backhaul I hope you don't get ice
storms in NZ.

If it were me I'd rather use a good dual pol panel (like ARC) than any grid
antenna.

You should expect a lot more through put in using dual pol, though as you
said the signal levels will be 3db down on both chains.  What's the signal
like now with the grids?
