Not sure if it is the find list="list-name" that is killing it or just the find in general but you could try:

:foreach i in=[/ip firewall address-list find] do={
  [/ip firewall address-list get $i list]
  :if ([/ip firewall address-list get $i list] ="list-name") do={
    /ip firewall address-list remove $i
  }
}

Can you create a new address-list and put in it only what you want to the
there? then you can change the names of the address-lists to put the old
one out and the new one in.

Didn't try an export, but how would that help? I can't delete them all
to
import the ones I want if that's what you're shooting for.

How many entries are we talking here?

Might be able to use the API, but I suspect it will have same issue as
cli..

Can you do a '/ip firewall address-list export file=something' or does
that
crash also?

Does anyone know a way to do this besides rebooting? I'm on v5.

Using SSH and this it crashes:
/ip firewall address-list remove [/ip firewall address-list find
list="list-name"]
