Just to chime in, I run 5.26 exclusively until the 6.x series has had enough time to work out the bugs for a proper FOA. Depending on your IP ranges, ipv6 will consume 2x to 4x the resources that ipv4 does, rendering anything rb1100 and below useless for my ipv6 rollout. We are transitioning to non-software based ospf routers (asics) as the software based simply won't scale well enough for our needs. How many routes are you predicting?
FWIW, we have always seen weird random issues on the mtiks resolved by resetting the OSPF module. Neither Foundry or Cisco has reproduced the behavior, it's isolated to mtik. This has gotten them banned from the core. Mtik's handling of OSPF is flaky at best, but many issues were related to layer 2 situations as well. So if you haven't started by examining your layer 2 and ensuring it is inline with best practices, that's where you start. In our case, cisco and brocade is where our journey ended. In all versions we have run OSPF on I have seen when, after making OSPF changes, a router get routes it only gets 10-20 and then sits there. Normally I can get it to get the full table by doing the following in a terminal window rout ospf ins dis 0; en 0 The disable and enable commands are on the same line because when the disable happens all routes are lost and so I loose connectivity. The router goes on to turn it back on and I usually stay connected and it recalculates routes fast enough to stay connected. Occasionally, it is the adjacent router that needs to be "kicked." I'm trying to route a C-class to my home lab. So being dynamic at my house, I set up a tunnel using L2TP and then using PPTP. After failing on LT2P, I'm following the instructions at: http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:BCP_bridging_%28PPP_tunnel_bridging%29 It doesn't seem to get me anywhere, but the only basic change is that I'm using a loopback bridge for the server location. Setup is basically: Internet <-> Eth1 -> MT1 bridge <-> Tunnel <-> MT2 bridge -> Vlan public I can't ping x.x.x.2 from bridge interface x.x.x.1 and vice versa, MACs are setup on both Bridges DE:AD:BE:EF:00:01, and DE:AD:BE:EF:00:02. PPTP tunnel and L2TP both worked fine... Sincerely, Eric Tykwinski TrueNet, Inc.
