I would suggest getting into channel 6. Turning on wifi debug logging (and 
turning up the number of entries) fail some connections and open a ticket with 
Mikrotik and a supout created. 

You are quite right that nothing in the standard should be preventing 
connections on channel 6. I would put it down to an odd interference source but 
your information matches another user of this device having some similar faults 
and I am liable to encourage logging of faults.
