Thanks for all suggestions but I still cannot install MikTeX2.9 for a single user (myself, Maurizio) with no admin privileges under Win10.
I had MikTeX installed (under admin) working perfectly but now, for reasons beyond my control, I need to have a clean MikTeX install as a single user (no admin privileges). Thus I had MikTeX unistalled and I am now trying to install again only for me (under my user name). At the end I get: Registering root directories... Operating on the private (per-user) MiKTeX setup configuring fontconfig\config\fonts.conf registering C:\Users\Maurizio\AppData\Local\MiKTeX 2.9\miktex/bin/x64\MiKTeX209-core.dll Sorry, but "MiKTeX Package Manager" did not succeed. The log file hopefully contains the information to get MiKTeX going again: C:/Users/Maurizio/AppData/Local/MiKTeX/2.9/miktex/log/mpmcli.log You may want to visit the MiKTeX project page, if you need help.
