What a disgrace that Lottery money is being withdrawn from the Childrens Hospice.?
Weeeeell, as I understand it from listening to an interview with the Chief Exec on BBC RC it's not been withdrawn - EACH knew from the start that it was a three year grant and now it's coming to an end. So the disgrace, if anything, is that EACH failed to plan properly for that eventuality. It sticks in my craw a little that they've happily expanded over the last three years, including acquiring new offices on the high street, and it now turns out they had no long term funding in place. So are they going to close those offices before they start reducing front line care?
It was due to the efforts of many people in Milton that this scheme was able to go ahead , and many of them still support the hospice in many ways. I feel for the parents who have to manage , who will now have to think of something else.
I can't help wondering on what basis EACH took it over. If you read their consultation document they're now proposing to stop offering any places to children during the week at Milton - it all being done out there in the community. There will only be beds available at the weekend. Was that what was originally envisaged by those in Milton who originally set up the hospice here? It's all before my time so I don't know.
Still I suppose that *guinea pigs in Peru* need to be thought of before our own children who need help.!Disgraceful.
Errr ... what? I must have missed that one. Is this some other lottery grant story?
