Well, I'm still seeing the exact same problem with 2.42 as with 2.41. Guido's patch (http://lists.roaringpenguin.com/pipermail/mimedefang/2004-April/021582. html) solves it for me. Can I request that this patch is applied to the tree for 2.43 please!
On a side note, my top level /var/spool/MIMEDefang had a group owner of wheel. All the files MD created had a group owner of wheel, despite there being no group sticky bit and the MD user not being in the wheel group. This broke group access until I realised what was going on.
