Hi,
I've gone through the MIMEDefang HOWTO with the help of some other sources on the net to install my IRIX 6.5.22f with sendmail 8.13.1, Spam Assassin, ClamAV, and finally MIMEDefang 2.44.
When I ran the mimedefang init-script(after having copied it to /etc/init.d, I got the following:
*********************************************************************
thoughtful 691# /etc/init.d/mimedefang start
Starting MIMEDefang-multiplexor 2.44
Starting MIMEDefang 2.44
/usr/local/bin/mimedefang: smfi_register failed
thoughtful 692# ps -ef | grep defang
defang 9067 1 0 14:48:57 ? 0:00 /usr/local/sbin/clamd
defang 10975 1 0 16:30:07 ? 0:00 /usr/local/bin/mimedefang-multiplexor -p /var/spool/MIMEDefang/mimedefang-multi
defang 10977 10975 0 16:30:07 ? 0:06 /usr/sbin/perl /usr/local/bin/mimedefang.pl -server
defang 10982 10975 0 16:30:10 ? 0:08 /usr/sbin/perl /usr/local/bin/mimedefang.pl -server
******************************************************************
So mimedefang itself won't run. The more revealing line above seems to be
/usr/local/bin/mimedefang: smfi_register failed
/var/adm/syslog tells me that:
Aug 5 16:43:24 6C:thoughtful mimedefang-multiplexor[10546]: started; minSlaves=2, maxSlaves=10, maxRequests=500, maxIdleTim

*****************************************************************
The "smfi_register: version mismatch application" error looks scary. Has anyone any idea why this comes about?
I couldn't get very far with google...
Any idea/direction would be most helpful.
Thank you! Gilad.
