Have you looked at your perl pre-reqs?
Specifically Mail::Tools?
There are several version differences/requirements between the two
versions
you mention above. This would be my first suspiscion since its a new
install,
of old software plus new Mimedefang.

It was a fresh load of a machine-the configuration was adapted from one
that was older, though.
Mail::Tools 1.67 is installed. Do I maybe need to drop back to the 1.15
(or earlier 1.1401) version?
