A few years ago, when the MS graphic-rendering engine exploit was a big
issue, we tried using "djpeg" to perform a limited inspection of jpeg files,
and had mixed success. Some graphics programs for the MAC create images
that djpeg was interpereting as being "corrupt". Unfortunately, that
included new website graphics being forwarded back and forth between us and
outside web-hosting sites and/or marketing/advertising agencies, artists
working under contract for us, just about anything coming from our own
marketing folks to printhouses, and so on. We decided it wasn't worth the
effort.
