Do I have to do something more than just stick the sub filter_sender { ...
subroutine in mimedefang-filter and set the -s flag in
mimedefang-multiplexor? do I have to add the call somewhere as well?

I use filter_sender() for both bad MX detection for replies and for SPF
checking. It works for me. I installed MD from its source and am currently
using a slightly modified version of 2.68 beta 1.
