The senior admin. Figured it out. He modified the default Mimedefang
filter and had it convert the tiff and reattach it to the email. It took
a long time and a lot of effort, but it works. We're going to test it
out on the production server to see what happens when many faxes come
in.

As MimeDefang is running during the SMTP session, are you certain you
really want to do this?

Wouldn't it be more appropriate to perform conversions after message
acceptance (e.g.during delivery)?
