The Internet email RFCs are horrible. Really evil. In the pathological
case, the email address:
"@@@!$"@example.com
is valid. The local part, of course, is @@@!$. However, I'm pretty sure
that email address would get nowhere fast in the real world, so the
simple-minded splitting is fine.
