Please use Google and glance at the slf4j docs (or even the overview).

Slf4j plugs into log4j, jcl, and much more: pretty much anything you
like (and anything, really, that you could write a simple interface
to).

That's so people can use whatever logging framework they like, much
like you want to. It's a very thin abstraction, and it is very small.

In fact, SLF4J was probably chosen for the specific purpose of
decoupling MINA from logging implementations. You can choose to couple
MINA with whatever logging framework (or lack thereof) you wish.
