purpose of DelegatedIoAcceptor?

What's the intent of the DelegatedIoAcceptor? It seems like an extra step to have a SocketAcceptor extend DelegatedIoAcceptor, and then pass in a SocketAcceptorDelegate.. Why not just promote SocketAcceptorDelegate to being the SocketAcceptor?
