Perhaps, I can't figure out what, though. Even after I explicitly close
connections in the messageSent() method I still get "Too many open files" error.

Use the 'lsof' utility to list all the open files in the system. You
should do this before you get the error, so that you can figure out
which process is using the fd and for what.

I don't know how to intepret the output of lsof, but there is a significant
diference between asyncweb/mina-0.8.2 and asyncweb/mina-0.9.3.

Using mina mina-0.8.2 most lines are similar to:

java    31168 lneves   62u  IPv4   29639414               TCP
172.28.230.115:9012->172.28.230.48:4069 (ESTABLISHED)
java    31168 lneves   63u  IPv4   29639441               TCP
172.28.230.115:9012->172.28.230.48:4096 (ESTABLISHED)

and with mina-0.9.3
java    31144 lneves   58r   REG        0,2        0     4208
/proc/sys/net/core/rmem_max
java    31144 lneves   59r   REG        0,2        0     4207
/proc/sys/net/core/wmem_max

Does this makes sense to you?
Thanks!
