Perhaps we could add a method in ProtocolCodecFactory like this:

public interface ProtocolCodecFactory {
...
   ByteOrder getDefaultByteOrder();
...
}

You can easily achieve this with an IoFilter, just call
ByteBuffer.order() to set the order that you want before and/or after
your encoder.
