Note there is no use of thread pool.

Any idea of how to get around this problem (besides changing the OS) ?
Would Mina 0.9.4 happen to have this problem already fixed ?

I'll run your test with 0.9.4 initially to see if its reproducible there. At this point, we do recommend people to use 0.9.4 vs the 0.8 series
