We had to write a hundred lines at primary school over Vasco da Gama.
Our head teacher had just given a history lesson on him and at the end
on one could remember who the lesson had been about. My eventual
answer that it had been some guy entirely unlike Tesco the Indian
Slayer did not go down well, but it was closer than others got. Maybe
you are right Francis and the Neanderthals did not go away, but became
the upper class?
