Wrong again, Craig, the situation is exactly the same. The term "Paki" in British English, has no primary association with the inhabitants of the country, Pakistan (which, incidentally, is not officially regarded by any of Bush's so-called coalition against terror, including the UK, as an enemy), but rather is a pejorative term used to describe the millions of British citizens (the majority of whom today have been born in the UK) who have ethnic origins in Southern Asia/the Indian subcontinent. In this sense, the parallel to the USA and US citizens of African origin is pretty exact.
