Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are even incapable of forming such opinions (Einstein). I hope to study and teach later this year in China and see if anything strikes me about this from some immersion in practice. My thought experiment on Israel concerns what would have happened had we given them Ireland as a homeland (or Skye to the Hong Kong Chinese). What would help would be an honest exposition of the real interests in the Arab- Israeli situation along with the entrenched positions that frankly make no sense.
