To me the concept of a god is simply absurd and while I've been duped a time or two in my life by absurd concepts, god is not one of them ... at least since I was about twelve years old and maybe earlier than that. However, I do allow that the concept of and belief in a god has been the mainstay of a large portion of humankind throughout our history, but that does not say anything about the validity of such concepts and beliefs. It is difficult to ignore a concept that has been the most widely spread belief in human history, nor is it difficult to ignore the wrongs that have been committed in the name of one god or another. But to be brief, there is nothing in science that indicates the existence of a god or gods, nor does the widespread belief and worship of such gods prove their existence. I simply find it incredibly dense that we continue to practice such beliefs and worship when it is clearly up to us to solve our own messes. At least this attitude beats the hell out of just accepting all the crap and making it from one day to the next till we finally die on the promise of a heavenly reward for our belief.
