Addendum: In regard to this frayed knot's beginning (i.e., that in Dostoevsty’s novel, “Crime and Punishment”, Raskolnikov commits murder with the justification, “If God doesn’t exist, then anything is permissible.”), I'm a frayed old Dos' had it slightly wrong: God doesn't exist and anything is possible.
