I think it was important to me to be a good mother and put off other ambitions like writing, painting, teaching, designing so I am probably a lowly creature who once worked hard as a homemaker. Homemaking is not very high on the list of careers. Now I am too exhausted to paint, poetize, teach or even redesign my garden. Maybe we are given "x" amount of energy in our lives and we run out of gas except when we eat beans.
