I have always felt that there is something inherently suspicious about recipes for life, wisdom, knowledge, etc. which present themselves as "secrets." What kind of arrogance must be present to regard or handle something which can make peoples' life better and happier as something which is limited to a minority of initiates (frequently today those who are prepared to pay for it)? Knowledge is indeed power and this - if such simplistic recipes do exist (a claim about which I am extremely doubtful) - is its cynical abuse.
