That is the old C.P.Snow/F.R.Leavis battle of the 60's on the two
cultures and the split between them- science x humanities.One of my
friend's father designed munitions during WWII and thought humanities
a waste of time as you could always indulge in the arts later...after
the guns and bombs were designed.
