Just had to share this one be fore I piss orf home for the eveing. A woman just popped her head around the corner with the complaint of a slow PC, so out we strolled to have a look and on the way I started to ask the normal questions, is it slow in any one particular application, have you noticed any sort of pattern, same time of day etc....., I got to the PC to find that she has 12 websites open 5 emails, three hefty word documents and a PDF or two. I didn't laugh and had a look to see if there where in fact any problems, checked out the spec of teh PC, had a looksee to see if I could close any unused processes, again all the normal things.
Wel as I suspected, the PC was fine, it was operating within the noramal paramaeter of the work load it was being asked to do. I explained, and suggested several changes to the way she normaly worked which would ensure that this would not happen. She looked at me and said 'So I have to work within the confines of the computer?' I just blinked and said yes of course, the computer is just a machine, you can't get into a mini for example and expect it to do 200MPH, well she said okay I'll tell that to my director shall I? I aked her to do exactly that and I'll tell her the very same thing. Heheh now I guess , I'll be asked to order some new and better 'puters for that production, and then I'll just have to recharge them back.
