Generally birds that approach outdoor feeders do not have the vision that you would expect. Birds often continually tilt their heads in an attempt to put the visual plane into perspective. Consider also that you are behind glass therefore presenting, from the birds view, reflections to process in their "bird brains". Chances are if you were sitting outside in a lounge chair the birds would not fly off because you are fully within their visual scope and may not be perceived as dangerous until you stand up and move in their direction. Birds are very well aware of their flight time or escape ability. Only the stealth of a cat could compete with them. I would agree that other animals do have a sense of the human vibe. My dogs sense my mood when I walk into the room. However, animals do pay much attention to vocal tones along with their visual perception. I think we're all subject to sensory perception.
