Oh, I don't know.  I think it was 'in there'.  Of course all these
strays were meant to be taken in by you.  You're a magnet.  I'm not
saying that they 'prey' on you because of your kindness, but that your
'ability and desire to care' and their 'need for care' attract each
other like oppositely charged magnets.
