Well I am not s christian for similar but different reasons,, I am a follower of Jesus son of Mary,, but I am not a follower of Saul of Tarsus commonly known as Paul.. reasons Getting zapped off his horse and what was said sounds about right and with in reason. I have problems in Malta where he was miraculously healed by God, when bitten by a poisonous snake... My problem lies in the simple fact there are no poisonous snakes in Malta.. then come the question how can you base the validity of ones teachings off a lie to give them validity..
That does not mean everything he said was bad..,, I have trouble seeing a God that is hateful and vengeful.. I agree with you it seems many of the churches ar more interested in money and are using fear and threats to get there.
